Mechanisms of epithelial morphogenesis during Drosophila embryogenesis
研究概要

多細胞生物の発生過程では一つの細胞である受精卵が分裂を繰り返しながら体を作り上げていきます。そのダイナミックな形づくりが成り立つためには、これまで研究されてきた遺伝子の配列やその機能がわかっただけでは説明できないことがたくさんあります。遺伝子やその産物であるRNAやタンパク質、さらには細胞・組織が相互作用し合い、協調しているからです。私たちの研究グループでは、これらの生物体内での階層を超えた発生システムのルールについて、遺伝学、ライブイメージング、1細胞解析の手法を駆使その答えを見つける研究に取り組んでいます。

A single cell fertilized egg repeated divides and builds up the entire body of an organism. This is called developmental process. There are many aspects of the sequences and functions of genes necessary for this dynamic construction process that we cannot explain with our current knowledge. This is because genes, their products such as RNA and proteins, and cells and tissues interact with each other while harmonizing. We are attempting to find the universal rule(s) in the developmental system common to all hierarchical levels of an organism.
