My group has been contributing to teaching and research on biochemistry and cellular physiology, and especially focuses on cellular Ca2+ signaling. In international and domestic academic societies, I also dedicate my efforts to further developing biological sciences.

Intracellular Ca2+ stores
研究概要

小胞体からのCa2+放出は、筋収縮、伝達物質放出、膜電位調節など多彩な細胞機能に関与しています。細胞内Ca2+ストアとして働く小胞体は、様々なタンパク質によりその機能が構築・制御されていますが、分子実体については不明な点が多く残されています。興奮性細胞における小胞体の構成タンパク質の役割を1つ1つ明らかにすることにより、小胞体Ca2+放出の分子基盤を解明することを目指しています。得られた研究成果は、新たな医薬品開発へ向けた薬物標的の設定や遺伝子疾患の理解に貢献しています。

Ca2+ release from the endo/sarcoplasmic reticulum (ER/SR) controls important cellular functions including muscle contraction, neurotransmitter release, membrane potential regulation. Although Ca2+ store functions in the ER/SR are constituted and further modulated by many proteins, such mechanisms are largely unknown at the molecular level. We focus on the ER/SR in excitable cell type and attempt to identify the roles of their protein components towards understanding the molecular basis of Ca2+ stores. Results from our studies contribute to both identifying target proteins for drug development and unveiling pathological mechanisms in genetic and metabolic diseases.
