Development of technology to utilize solar energy using nano thermo-optical properties
研究概要

カーボンナノチューブを代表とする、ナノメートルスケールの構造をもった物質では、2000℃近い高温環境でも、量子効果が顕著にあらわる。これまで、量子効果によって発現するナノ構造物質の特異な熱的•光学的物性を、単一ナノチューブを用いた実験で解明してきた。現在は、そこで見出した熱光エネルギー変換に関する知見を活かし、太陽光エネルギーの有効利用に向けた、ナノチューブ応用素子の開発を行なっている。

Materials with nanometer-scale structures, such as carbon nanotubes, exhibit remarkable quantum effects even at high temperatures of nearly 2,000°C. We have been studying the unique thermal and optical properties of nanostructured materials arising from quantum effects by using single nanotube experiments. Currently, we are developing nanotube-based devices for effective utilization of solar energy based on our knowledge of thermo-optical energy conversion.
