Overview of the research

世界各地の沈み込み帯では、スロー地震と呼ばれる多種多様な低速な断層滑り現象が発生します。これらのスロー地震は、ときに大地震や群発的な地震活動を誘発します。私は、スロー地震の地震活動誘発効果を考慮することによって、地震活動の統計的な予測の精度を向上させる研究に取り組んでいます。加えて、世界各地の沈み込み帯の地震活動・スロー地震活動の多様性とその原因の解明にも取り組んでいます。

A wide variety of slow fault-slip phenomena, called slow earthquakes, occur in subduction zones worldwide. These slow earthquakes sometimes trigger great earthquakes and earthquake swarms. I am working to improve probabilistic forecasts of seismicity by considering the effect of slow earthquakes on triggering seismicity. In addition, I am interested in the diversity of fast and slow seismicity in subduction zones worldwide and their origins.
