1986年筑波大学第二学群農林学類(生物応用化学)卒業、1988年京都大学農学研究科(農芸化学専攻)修士課程修了、同年呉羽化学工業(株)入社後、1991年同社退社、同年トゥレーヌ甲南学園(仏国)教員を経て、1993年京都大学大学院農学研究科博士課程(農芸化学専攻)編入学、1996年同修了、1997年助手、2004年助教授を経て現在に至る。1998年~2000年にかけて、博士研究員として米国農務省研究所(USDA ARS, Center for Medical, Agricultural, and Veterinary Entomology)に勤務。

昆虫-植物の相互作用、植物の誘導抵抗性、植物の抵抗性を誘導する昆虫由来エリシター、昆虫の対抗適応機構
Overview of the research
(Japanese)
昆虫の食害によって誘導される植物の抵抗反応を化学物質レベルで捉える。また、自らの生存にとっては不利に働く昆虫由来エリシターの昆虫に置ける生理的意味を理解する。さらに、植物の抵抗性に対する昆虫サイドの対抗適応機構を明らかにする。これら昆虫-植物で働く相互作用を分子レベルで解析する研究から、生態学的にリーズナブルな害虫制御・植物保護法の開発につながる基礎的知見を得る。
