成果が作物の品種改良に役立てられることを念頭に置きつつ、農業上重要な形質、環境適応、生物間相互作用に関わる遺伝子群やゲノムダイナミクス、さらに種分化、新たな作物種の形成、異質倍数体の進化機構について研究している。特に、コムギとその野生近縁種であるAegilops属の間で種間雑種において見られる雑種弱勢、遺伝子間相互作用、異数性化に関与する遺伝子の同定とメカニズムの解明を目指している。

I am studying genes and genomic dynamics related to important agricultural traits, environmental adaptation, interspecific interactions, speciation, and evolution of allopolyploids. In particular, I focus on identification of genes involved in hybrid weakness, intergenomic interactions, and aneuploidy found in interspecific hybrids between wheat and its wild relatives and elucidation of their molecular mechanisms.
