Overview of the research
(Japanese)
琵琶湖をはじめとする大水深淡水湖を主な対象とした微生物生態学に取り組んでいる。フィールド(湖沼調査)・ドライ(大規模環境ゲノム解析)・ウェット(培養実験・顕微鏡観察)の3つのアプローチを併用しながら、コンパクトかつ網羅的な研究が可能な湖ならではの強みを活かし、微生物学、生態学、さらには生命科学全般の諸問題に答えうる研究への展開を目指している。

My research has been focusing on microbial ecology in deep freshwater lakes. Using a combination of field (lake sampling), dry (meta-omics), and wet (cultivation and microscopy)-based approaches, I am trying to challenge broader research topics of microbiology, ecology, and life sciences in general.
