Phenology (flowering, dormancy) and reproduction (pollination, fertilization, fruit set) of fruit tree species
Overview of the research

温帯果樹の多くは、夏に花芽を分化させたのち、春まで開花せず、越冬時には活動を休止している。休眠とよばれるこの現象は冬季の低温に対する防御反応のひとつであるとともに、春の一斉開花に向けて芽の成長段階を均一化するのに有用な発達ステージでもある。休眠から覚醒し開花するには一定時間以上の低温に遭遇する必要がある。近年の気候温暖化によって、この低温要求量が満たされず開花が不揃いになるなどいくつかの問題が生じている。現在、我々が最近単離した休眠と同調的な発現挙動を示すMADS-box転写因子やアブシシン酸(ABA)を中心にした休眠制御シグナル伝達の機構解明をおこなっている。 また、ブルーベリーやレイシを材料に、新たな作型や効率的栽培手法の開発あるいは流通の効率化をめざした研究もおこなっている。また、環境変動などの外的要因が果実の機能性成分に与える影響やその人為制御、果実のおいしさを決める要因分析に関しても研究をおこなっている。
