Overview of the research

ヒトゲノムの塩基配列には、個人間、人種間で微妙な違いが多数存在する。これら塩基の個体差を多型と呼び、そのうち一塩基の多型 (Single Nucleotide Polymorphism: SNP) はヒトゲノム上で数百塩基に一箇所の割合で存在し、疾患と個人の遺伝的素因の関係を調べる有用なツールとなっている。近年ではDNAチップの開発により全ゲノム関連解析(GWAS)が可能になった。患者と対照群について数十万個のSNP遺伝子型データを一度に決定し、両群で有意差を認めるSNPを探索することにより疾患発症に重要な影響を及ぼす遺伝子多型が同定可能である。我々の目的はGWASを用いて、様々な多因子型遺伝病の感受性遺伝子多型を同定し、その情報を基に高危険群診断法の確立することである。

Our principle aim is the identification of genes related to the onset and progression of various human multigenetic diseases by genome-wide association studies (GWAS).
