Overview of the research
(Japanese)
気候変動を考慮して現在と将来の洪水リスクを評価し,対策するための手法を提案しています.具体的には,1)河川流量・氾濫を予測するための水理・水文モデルの開発,2)極値統計学を用いて現在と将来の極端洪水の発生確率を推定する手法の確立に取り組み,それらを膨大な気候予測データと組み合わせることによって洪水リスク評価手法の確立を目指しています.さらに,地域ごとの洪水リスクに応じて河川整備や住まい方を変える都市計画的な洪水リスク管理策を実装した場合の効果を評価するための経済モデル開発にも取り組んでいます.これらの手法の確立と対策の評価を通じて,洪水のリスクを把握して対処できる社会の実現を目指します.

My research aims at developing flood risk assessment/management methodology, especially for rainfall-runoff/flood inundation model development, construction of probabilistic modeling of extreme floods based on extreme value theory, and their combination with the latest climate change projections. Furthermore, with the development of economic models of society reactions to river/urban planning measures for flood risk management, I desire a society grasping quantitative flood risk and dealing with it properly.
