I have been working on ecology and evolutionary biology of marine invertebrates (e.g., Mollusca and Annelida). Especially, my studies focus on evolution of symbiotic relationships, including parasitism, commensalism and mutualism.

Overview of the research
(Japanese)
海産無脊椎動物(特に軟体動物と環形動物)を対象として、生態学、分類学、進化生物学の視点から研究を進めている。特に、生物間の寄生・共生関係やそれに伴う形態的・生態的適応に興味を持っている。DNAを用いた系統学的手法により、海産動物の種分化過程・進化過程の解明や分類の見直しなども行っている。

My research focuses on evolution and diversification of marine invertebrates. I am especially interested in (1) how symbiotic species interactions affect morphological and ecological evolution of marine organisms and their community structure; and (2) how and why extreme sexual dimorphism evolved in various marine taxa.
