核融合炉および先進原子炉に関する熱流動、安全性研究を行っている。また、核融合炉工学システムとして、炉工学全般(材料、トリチウムを含む)を研究対象としている。混相流工学、特に固体粒子を含む乱流熱伝達に関する研究を行っている。また、ミクロ流体、地熱発電に関する研究も行う。
