霊長類を対象とした脳研究と疾患モデル霊長類の研究を行っている。大学院教育に関しては、学生の自主性を尊重しつつ、研究テーマに真摯に取り組む姿勢を涵養するよう努めている。学部教育、高校生への講義、学会若手、一般市民を対象とした講義にも積極的に取り組んでいる。

I am engaged in neuroscience research using nonhuman primates as a subject and developing disease model monkeys by using sporadic individuals, pedigrees, and molecular methods. As for education in the graduate course, I appreciate originality of individual students and train them to struggle for the theme. I also commit to undergradual education, lectures and courses for young researchers, high school students, and citizens.

Overview of the research
(Japanese)
霊長類を研究対象とし、分子レベルから行動研究にいたる幅広い手法を用いて、以下の研究を行っている。1)特に神経回路のレベルに注目して、学習時やリハビリテーション時の神経系の可塑性を調べている。2)発達期や老齢期における脳の変化を、物質的な観点から研究している。3)霊長類で発達している連合野の中でも、特に前頭前野に注目して、実行機能の神経基盤の解明に取り組んでいる。4)自然発症した難病の霊長類を包括的に解析している。

I focus on following three topics by using various methods ranging from molecular level to behavioral level: 1) neural plasticity during learning or rehabilitative training, especially at the neural circuit level, 2) changes in the mRNA and protein levels during development and aging, 3) neural mechanism of executive function attributed to prefrontal cortex, 4) analyses of sporadic rare diseases in non-human primates.
