研究概要

幹細胞は、様々な細胞に分化できる能力を持った細胞です。体の中で幹細胞は、必要に応じて分化し、新陳代謝や傷の回復、発生時期の臓器の形成などを行なっています。しかし、幹細胞がどのように分化できる能力を維持しているのか、どのようにして分化する細胞の種類が決まるのか、まだまだ詳しいことは分かっていません。我々の研究室では、ヒトES細胞やiPS細胞、組織幹細胞を用いて、分化能の維持と分化決定のメカニズムについて研究を行なっています。

I am interested in how stem cells retain the potency to differentiate into various cell types, and what molecular mechanisms are involved in the potency and differentiation in mammals, especially in human. Currently, our research is focused on understanding how signal transductions regulate self-renewal, proliferation, migration, differentiation, and functions in human pluripotent stem cells (such as human ES cells and iPS cells). In addition, we are studying nature of tissue stem/progenitor cells in development, regeneration and disease using a variety of biological processes and samples including many types of cultured cells as well as using laboratory mice. We are also employing various conventional and advanced tools in chemical biology, developmental biology, epigenetics and cell and molecular biology.
