Investigation of mechanism of retinal nonperfusion of eyes with retinal vascular diseases using adaptive optics-scanning light ophthalmoscope, and optical coherence tomography angiography

糖尿病網膜症や網膜静脈閉塞症などの網膜循環疾患では、重篤な視機能障害の原因となるretinal nonperfusion area (NPA) が形成される。しかし、NPA形成のメカニズムはこれまで十分にわかっておらず、有効な治療法は一切確立されていない。補償光学を適用した最先端の眼底イメージング器機や動物実験の系を用いて、NPA形成の素過程を捉え、NPAを標的とした新規治療法の開発を目指している。

In eyes with retinal vascular diseases such as diabetic retinopathy or retinal vein occlusion, retinal nonperfusion area (NPA), which can cause severe visual dysfunction, is often developed. However, mechanism of the NPA formation has not been well understood, and no effective treatments targeting for the NPA have been established. Using various fundus imaging modalities such as adaptive optics scanning light ophthalmoscope, and high resolution-optical coherence tomography angiography, I have investigated the primary process of the NPA formations in order to develop a new treatment for the NPA of eyes with retinal vascular diseases.
