研究概要
(日本語)
病原体が体内に侵入すると最初に自然免疫担当細胞が病原体を検出し,炎症性サイトカイン産生を介して自然免疫応答である炎症が誘導される。これまで,サイトカイン産生(サイトカインタンパク質の翻訳)はそのmRNAの転写により調節されると考えられてきた。しかし,転写されたmRNAの安定性やタンパク質への翻訳は転写後調節と呼ばれる制御機構により細胞内で厳密に制御されており,転写後調節は自然免疫応答である炎症の開始と抑制(終焉)にも重要な役割を担っていることが明らかになってきた。我々は,これまで転写制御(mRNA産生の制御)と比較して未知の領域である,自然免疫の転写後調節について研究している。

Cytokines are critical mediators of inflammation and host defense. Cytokine production is regulated during transcription and post-transcription. Post-transcriptional regulation modifies mRNA stability and translation, allowing for the rapid and flexible control of gene expression, which is important for coordinating the initiation and resolution of inflammation. We investigate mechanisms of post-transcriptional regulation that regulate inflammation.
