1992年、京都大学農学部農林生物学科を卒業、同年京都大学大学院農学研究科修士課程に進学、1994年同課程を修了、同年京都大学大学院農学研究科博士後期課程に進学する。1997年4月より日本学術振興会特別研究員。1997年6月に同課程中途退学、同年7月より京都大学大学農学研究科助手、2000年から2001年、在外研究員(ノースカロライナ州立大学)、2005年より同研究科講師。2008年より同研究科准教授、2016年より同研究科教授、現在に至る。植物病原糸状菌と植物の相互作用を一貫して研究しており、特に炭疽病菌(Colletotrichum属菌)の感染戦略と植物側の対抗戦略に焦点を当てている。2004年日本植物病理学会学術奨励賞受賞、2008年日本農学進歩賞受賞。

Molecular Mechanisms for Interactions between Anthracnose Fungi and Plants
研究概要
(日本語)
植物感染病の80%以上は、植物病原糸状菌(カビ)によって引き起こされており、糸状菌からの作物保護は非常に重要です。この植物と糸状菌の相互作用の分子機構を、様々な農作物生産に甚大な被害をもたらしている炭疽病菌(Colletotrichum属菌)を中心に研究しており、具体的には、(1)炭疽病菌における共通の感染戦略、(2)炭疽病菌に対する植物の非宿主抵抗性機構、および(3)炭疽病菌エフェクターによる非宿主抵抗性抑制機構に焦点をあてています。そして、これらの研究により得られた知見を作物保護に応用していくことを目指しています。
