これまでヒトでの慢性炎症局所で生じている免疫現象の解明を試み、炎症局所にてケモカインCXCL13を産生し異所性リンパ濾胞の形成に関わるヒト独自のリンパ球の提唱や関連する転写因子Sox4の同定を行ってきました。解析技術の進歩により可能となったscRNA-seq等の手法を用いてヒト検体の更に詳細な解析を行い、関節リウマチだけでなく膠原病やがん微小環境における免疫現象の解明を目指します。

I have been investigating human immune responses of local chronic inflammation, and identified human CXCL13-producing helper T cells, which play crucial roles in the formation of ectopic lymphoid follicles in the synovium of rheumatoid arthritis, and their relating transcription factor Sox4, that regulates CXCL13 production. Recent progress of experimental technique enables more detailed analysis of human tissues. We further figure out immune responses in inflammatory conditions including collagen diseases and malignant tumors.

動物モデルで期待された治療が実際の患者さんには無効なことがあり、これは種による違いのためと考えられています。患者さんの役に立つ研究を目指し、リウマチ患者さんではどういうことが起きているのかを調べています。マイクロRNAという遺伝子を制御するRNAとヘルパーT細胞の両面で新しいことが分かってきています。
