Overview of the research

アルツハイマー病、パーキンソン病をはじめとする多くの神経変性疾患において、脳内にユビキチンを含む異常タンパク質凝集体の蓄積が確認されている。これまでの我々の研究で、ユビキチンのポリマー形成が異常凝集体形成、そしてその分解に密に関係することが明らかになった。現在は、ポリユビキチンの凝集体形成機構の解明を目指している。

Ubiquitin is often found in inclusion bodies associated with neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s diseases. We have revealed that polymerization of ubiquitin causes its aggregation and that the aggregates are selectively degraded in living cells. Now we study the molecular mechanism of aggregate formation of polyubiquitin chains.
