Numerical simulations of nonlinear phenomena in fusion plasmas with focusing on electromagnetic instabilities and turbulence
Overview of the research
(Japanese)
磁場によって閉じ込められたプラズマの集団運動は強い非線形性を持つ。この非線形現象を理論および数値シミュレーションにより理解する。特に電磁的な揺動を伴う不安定性および乱流がプラズマ閉じ込めに与える影響を理解することを目標とし、スーパーコンピュータを用いた大規模数値シミュレーションにより、プラズマの自己組織化や構造形成に着目して研究を進める。

Magnetically confined plasmas exhibit strong nonlinearity. This nonlinear phenomena are studied by means of numerical simulations. Aiming to understand the degradation of plasma confinement, numerical simulations of electromagnetic instabilities and turbulence are carried out with the point of view from self-organization and structure formation of magnetized plasmas by utilizing super computers.
