Overview of the research

自然免疫応答ならびに適応免疫応答の制御における樹状細胞ならびにマクロファージの機能に注目し、研究を行ってきた。共に、C型レクチンをはじめとする種々のレセプターを発現して侵襲性微生物を認識して細胞応答を開始するが、樹状細胞は抗原提示細胞として適応免疫応答の強度と質を制御していることが明らかとなってきた。現在は、種々の応答におけるこれらの細胞およびそのサブセットの分化と機能についての解析を行っている。

I have been studied on the functions of dendritic cells and macrophages in the innate and adaptive immunity. In particular, dendritic cells are shown to be the most potent antigen-presenting cells. Both cells consist of several subsets, express various types of receptors recognizing pathogen-associated molecular pattern and are involved in the regulation of magnitude and quality of immune responses. Current interests are to reveal the differentiation and functions of these cell types and their subsets.
