証拠(データ)と論理に基づいて真実を解き明かす科学研究の明快さに憧れてこの世界に入りました。あのとき感じた心躍る感覚は今も変わりません。損得のために真実に目をつぶり、科学者としての信念を曲げることがどうしても出来ず、おかげで馬鹿を見てばかりです。大人しく定説に沿った研究をしていれば良いものを、誰もやっていないことに手を出したい欲求が抑えられず、苦労が絶えません。研究者の不治の病ですねこれは。

農業ダニ類と捕食者の相互作用に関する実験生態学的研究
Overview of your research

重要害虫であるハダニ類の実験生物としての可能性を開拓することで、ハダニの集団行動が「歩行跡をたどる」という個体単位の行動規則の増幅で創発される仕組みや、ハダニが吐糸で作る網で天敵の攻撃を避ける仕組み等の、野外で検証できない諸問題を操作実験的に解明している。一方で、ハダニの天敵を利用して自力で身を守る野生植物の防御システムを手本にし、ハダニの天敵を利用して栽培植物を守る生物的防除の指針を探っている。
