生体物理学をベースに脳科学を研究している。教育に関しては、研究倫理や研究能力を身につけさせることを目指して、研究室の大学院生・学部生と実践的に共同研究を通して指導している。他学部や異分野の研究者との連携を行い、学術研究の成果を地域から世界へ発展せるよう日々邁進している。忙しい中ではあるが、各種委員会にも参加し、大学の環境改善に勤しんでいる。

My special field is the brain Science based on Biophysics. I am conducting education on graduate and undergraduate students to understand the research ethics and to improve their research ability through our researches. Further, I am collaborating with many scientists working on other faculties and other fields, so that we are planning that our research products to develop to the world wide use. Moreover, I am engaging on many committee in Kyoto University to make good environments for research and study.

Overview of the research

生体機能の可視化と定量化を主テーマに、光計測技術・磁気共鳴技術を発展させ、その医学・生命科学的応用を目指している。研究では、主にヒトの脳機能の可視化と、ヒト脳機能計測で見出した結果のメカニズムの解明を、小動物を用いたモデル実験で行っている。

We are developing new technologies to visualize biophysical and physiological functions inside the living body, especially to visualize human brain function. Further, we aim to reveal mechanisms of such individual bio-phenomena through animal experiments.
