The recent research topics are: (1) To analyze and design the motion intelligence in butterfly flapping flight by experimental observation and numerical simulation, (2) Intelligent control of space robots and rovers, (3) To obtain intelligence and skills by autonomous learning (4) Dynamics and system design of future aerospace systems including solar power satellites (SPS), large space structures (LSS), etc.

航空宇宙機の動力学解析及び運動制御に関する基礎研究ならびに基礎技術開発をおこなう分野である。航空宇宙機は多くの剛体、弾性体が結合した複雑な機械システムであり、動的な環境の中で高度な作業をおこなう。この種のシステムの開発の基礎となる工学的課題として次の研究をおこなっている。(1) 複雑な機械システムのモデル化及びシミュレーション手法,(2) 非線形機械システムの運動制御,(3) 環境の認識と学習に基づく知能化制御,(4) 力学的理解と動物の運動知能に基づく制御・知能化・システム設計
