細胞膜受容体は細胞外の情報を細胞内に伝えることができる。この興味深い機能を持っている膜受容体の立体構造とその調節機構を細胞レベル、分子レベルで解明することが我々の研究目標である。現在は、昆虫細胞ーバキュロウイルス発現系を利用して、エンドセリン受容体がどのようにシグナルを伝えるのかを解明するために、ヒトエンドセリン受容体の立体構造を解析し、不活性型から活性型への構造変化機構を研究している。また、神経シナプスで機能するイオンチャネルの構造研究も行っている。

Cell surface membrane proteins transmit signals outside of the cell to the inside. Studies of the mechanisms of structure and regulation of these membrane proteins at the cellular and molecular levels are main goals of our research activities. We currently focus on the structure and function of human endothelin receptors that are G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) using insect-baculovirus expression system. We also study structures and functions of AMPA receptors which are ion channels localized in the postsynapse.
