2002年3月山口大学大学院理工学研究科博士後期課程期間短縮修了,博士(工学).同年4月理化学研究所脳科学総合研究センター研究員,2005年9月岡山大学大学院自然科学研究科講師を経て,2007年4月より京都大学大学院情報学研究科講師.脳波とfMRIを用いた脳機能イメージングによる認知神経科学研究に従事.NeuroImage誌論文賞(2007年), SICE Young Author's Award (2007年)などを受賞.

He received the Ph.D. degree in Design Engineering from Yamaguchi University in 2002. He continued his research in cognitive neuroscience and functional brain imaging as a research scientist at RIKEN Brain Science Institute from 2002 to 2005, and as a lecturer at Okayama University from 2005 to 2007. From 2007, he is a senior lecturer at Graduate School of Informatics, Kyoto University. He won Neuroimage paper award in 2007, and SICE Young Author's Award in 2007.

脳波やfMRIなどの人を対象とした非侵襲の脳機能計測を専門としています。また、脳波の時間分解能でfMRIの空間分解能を実現するために、脳波とfMRIの同時計測技術を開発しています。脳波とfMRIの同時計測技術においては、国際的なトップジャーナル(NeuroImage誌)の論文賞を受賞するなど、世界的に評価されています。これらの脳機能計測技術を用いて、人のコミュニケーションに関する諸機能(例えば、音声理解、自他分離などのコミュニケーションの根幹をなす機能)のメカニズム解明を進めています。 ※ 脳波計測は比較的に簡便に実施できるため、多くの施設で取り入れられています。しかし、他の脳機能計測方法と比較しても、計測・解析ともに極めて専門的な知識と十分なトレーニングが要求される計測方法です。その結果の解釈なども含めて疑問を感じるような成果も散見されます。企業などからの共同研究や学術指導などのご依頼も積極的に受け付けますので、新たに脳波計測を導入したいとお考えの際には、ぜひ一度、ご相談ください。

I am engaging in non-invasive human brain functional measurements such as EEG and fMRI. In particular, I am developing simultaneous recordings of fMRI and EEG to achieve fMRI spatial resolution with EEG temporal resolution. Our simultaneous fMRI and EEG techniques have been evaluated worldwide, for example, receiving an award from the top international journal “NeuroImage”. I am working on elucidating the mechanisms of various functions related to human communication, for example, the functions that form the basis of communication such as speech recognition and self-other segregation, by using these functional brain measurements.
