Overview of the research

 X線コンピュータ断層撮影(CT)では,多数のX線を使用するため,一つ一つのX線のエネルギーを測定することは検出器の計数率の観点から困難である.このため,X線を電流として測定し,解析によりX線のエネルギー分布を求めるtransXend検出器を開発した.これは,X線の入射方向に複数個の要素検出器を配置した検出器システムである.個々の要素検出器のX線に対する応答が異なることを利用する.将来,人体に応用するため,2次元transXend検出器の開発も行った.現在,transXend検出器の動作特性の研究,エネルギー分解CT測定法の開発,実効原子番号測定,など,基礎研究を行い,また京都大学病院,近畿大学病院に置いて,臨床装置を用いたエネルギー分解CT測定法の開発を実施している.  transXend検出器の原理を応用し,硼素中性子捕捉療法において,がん組織に含まれるB-10の分布のイメージング法の研究を開始した.また,コンクリート橋脚の健全性評価法の基礎研究も行っている.

It is very difficult to measure the energy of each X-ray in X-ray computed tomography (CT), because the number of X-rays in CT is enourmous. For the breakthrough of this situation, we developed a "transXend" detector to measure X-rays as electric current and obtain X-ray energy distribution after analysis. The transXend detector is a detector system consists of several segmented detectors aligned in the direction of X-ray incidence. The difference of responses of each segmented detector is utilized for the estimation of X-ray energy distribution. For applying the transXend detector for human subject in future, we have developed a two-dimensional transXend detector. Now we are conducting the study of operation characteristics of the transXend detector, the energy-resolved CT measurement method, the measurement of effective atomic number.Also, we are studying the energy-resolved CT method using clinical devices at Kyoto University and Kindai University hospitals. We have started the study on the imaging of B-10 concentration in cancer tissue in the boron neutron capture therapy. Also, the soundness evaluation on the concrete supporting beam has started.
