Hydrological and sediment transport processes in channel networks and hillslopes of mountain basins
Overview of the research
(Japanese)
土砂災害は主として水によって土砂が移動することで発生する。山地流域での水および土砂の移動過程を解明することは,土砂災害の防災だけでなく流域管理などに資する。これまで土砂発生源となる斜面での水移動過程について現地観測を基礎として研究してきた。近年は河道での土砂移動の観測手法の開発を進め,豪雨などの極端な状況下で河道網を通じて輸送される土砂量の正確な把握に取り組んでいる。

Various types of sediment transport by water can cause sediment related disasters in mountain regions. Assessing hydrological and sediment transport processes contribute disaster mitigation as well as watershed management. I have studied hillslope hydrological processes related to sediment production such as landslide and erosion based on field observations. My recent research interest is accurate monitoring of sediment transport rate in channel networks during extreme flood events. I struggle a new measurement approach to measure sediment transport rate in mountain rivers.
