Study on the role of N-glycan in the function of kidney and search for the markers derived from N-glycans related to the kidney failure

慢性腎不全は進行すると治療が難しく、そのために予防に向けた早期診断を導く研究が重要になります。近年、慢性腎不全の主要疾患である糖尿病性腎症に伴って腎臓内糖鎖付加パターンが大きく変化することが報告され、糖鎖抗原が新たな疾患マーカーになりうることが示唆されてきました。私は腎機能を早期に反映する糖鎖マーカーを探索すると同時に、その糖鎖の機能的な役割の解析を目指しています。

Since it is difficult to treat chronic kidney failure as it progresses, the research that leads to early diagnosis for its prevention is important. In recent years, it has been reported that the glycosylation pattern in the kidney significantly changes with diabetic nephropathy, a major disease of chronic kidney failure, and it has been suggested that the epitope on N-glycans can become a new disease marker. I am searching for markers that reflect kidney function early, and also aiming to analyze the functional role of N-glycan related to the kidney function.
