岡山大学農学研究科修了後、医療法人重井医学研究所において、糸球体腎炎に関する研究を行った。その間、岡山大学医学部において鉄ニトリロ三酢酸による正常肝細胞のがん化誘導に関する研究で医学博士を取得し、さらにはカリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校分子生物学研究所でSV40ウイルスの形態形成に関する研究を行った。京都大学所属後、哺乳類の卵成熟や受精胚および体細胞核移植胚の発生に関する研究を行っている。

Overview of your research

哺乳類卵母細胞の受精及び受精後の発生を調節する卵母細胞の細胞質成熟を促進する因子としてミッドカイン(MK)を同定し、MKの細胞質成熟促進機構の解明を行っている。また、マウス受精胚の初期発生、特に胚性ゲノムの活性化時期の発生を促進する因子の単離に成功している。この因子の構造解析と生理作用機構の解明を行っている。さらに、マウス胚盤胞の休眠誘導因子の同定やマウス体細胞核移植胚の初期化と発生のエピジェネティックス調節に関する研究を行っている。
