ゲノム編集技術の水産業への応用。 メダカを用いた遺伝子導入メカニズムの解明とヒト疾患モデルメダカをはじめとしたモデル生物の作出。
Overview of your research
(Japanese)
ゲノム編集技術や遺伝子導入技術などを駆使して、水生生物の遺伝子機能を解明するとともに、得られた知見を利用し水産業に貢献する水生生物を作製する。まずは、モデル生物であるメダカで基礎研究を行い、マダイやトラフグをはじめとする養殖魚に応用する。これまでに筋肉量が増大したマダイや高成長トラフグの作製に成功している。また、人疾患モデルメダカの作製にもチャレンジしており、アルツハイマー症候群やパーキンソン病の原因遺伝子をメダカで改変し、疾患モデルとしての有効性を検証している。
