Personal Profile
(English)
I am conducting international and interdisciplinary research on the political economy of sustainable market-based climate policy. Making scientific knowledge easily accessible to society by writing scientific articles, by presenting at international conferences, and by engaging in political advisory work is one of my major objectives. As for education, my aim is to motivate students to life-long learning, to apply scientific methods, and to use them for explaining real-life phenomena. I also strive continuously to contribute to sustainable development by working with political stakeholders both in Japan and abroad.

Overview of the research
(English)
I started my studies on market-based environmental policy instruments and political economy issues in order to learn about how to apply economics to one of the major challenges of today's society and in order to realize its chances and obstacles. To achieve my aim, I have been researching emissions trading and environmental taxes in many countries of the world such as Germany, the US, and Japan. Recently, I have been researching social justice issues of market-based climate policy. Furthermore, I am comparing climate politics and economics in Europe, Northamerica, and Asia, in order to reveal similarities and differences between them.
