大阪府立大手前高校を卒業後、京都大学農学部農芸化学科に入学し、学部生時代はサッカー部に所属した。研究室配属後はペプチド化学を主とした研究に従事し、博士課程まで進み学位を取得した。その後、U.C.Davisにポスドクとして研究に従事し、2000年より京都大学農学研究科助手、2016年より京都大学国際高等教育院准教授(農学研究科兼任)として勤務している。日本農芸化学会、日本農薬学会、日本ペプチド学会、日本質量分析学会に所属している。

サソリ毒液に含まれる殺虫性毒素の単離・同定、ならびに植物の防御反応を誘導するペプチドの探索
Overview of your research
(Japanese)
生理活性ペプチドの探索とその作用機構の解明を目指し、主に有機化学的手法に用いた研究を行っている。具体的には、昆虫に対して毒性を示すペプチドを、日本に生息するサソリの毒液より単離・同定し、さらにそれらを化学合成して構造と活性の関係について考察する。また、植物の防御応答システムを活性化するペプチドを、人工的に作製したランダムペプチドライブラリより探索し、その作用機構について考察する。
