植物の系統分類学や系統地理学を基盤とした進化多様性に関する研究を行っています。 系統地理学とは,地球上の様々な場所に生息する生物種が,どのような歴史的経緯を辿って,現在のような地理的分布を得てきたのか,現在の生息環境に見られるように至ったのかについて,主にDNAデータの解析から明らかにしていく研究領域です。また,私たちは系統地理学の結果に基づいて,地域ごとの環境に植物が適応進化していくメカニズムを明らかにするべく,具体的な遺伝子の特定を行う研究を行っています。  さらに,研究過程のなかで絶滅に瀕した植物集団を見出しては,その保護に資する保全研究を進めています。この類の研究にあたっては,研究を終えた後に,その植物が将来にわたって生存できるように,保護増殖・植戻しまでやり遂げるようにしています。詳細は、個人のHPをご覧下さい(http://setolab.h.kyoto-u.ac.jp)
