これまで、工学と医学の2つの分野で、研究と教育に携わってきた経験から、真の意味での医工学の連携・融合を推進し目に見える成果を出すことを心掛けている。その一つとして、近年は生体情報のセンシングと医用イメージングに関する先端的な研究を推進してきたが、基礎理論の研究だけでなく、常に基礎医学や臨床関係者との協力による、実際の医療に役立つ技術の追求と、産学連携を重視した企業との共同研究による実用装置の開発に取り組んでいる。
