Overview of the research

獲得免疫において「特異的T細胞が認識する抗原はペプチドである」という概念は部分的な事実でしかない。「脂質」および「リポペプチド」を特異的に認識するT細胞応答の存在が明らかとなってきたためだ。従って、免疫系はペプチド、脂質、リポペプチドという三つの独立した抗原提示経路の総体によって成り立つものであり、非ペプチド抗原の詳細な研究無しに、免疫系の全容を理解することは出来ない。私はこの非ペプチド抗原を対象として、特にサルモデルを主体とした基礎研究から、その免疫学的意義の解明を目指している。

Acquired immunity recognizes not only peptide antigens but also lipid antigens and lipopeptide antigens. I focus on researching T cell responses direct against these “non-peptide” antigens by utilizing animal models such as rhesus monkeys.
