農地や林地には様々な微生物が生育し,植物に多様な影響を与えています. 例えば,農林生産に壊滅的な被害をしばしもたらす病気の主原因は微生物によるものです.また,一方,微生物の中には植物と共生し,宿主の活力増進に寄与するものもいます.従って,農林生産性の向上と安定化のためには,これら微生物を巧く制御することが必要です.私は,これらの微生物,中でも菌類の制御・利用法の研究開発や分類学・生態学について,分子遺伝や生化学的手法を用いて展開しています.また,住環境や農産加工における微生物のもたらす問題の解決にむけての研究も手がけています.

植物病原・共生菌の外界・宿主認識に関わるシグナル伝達系の解明 殺生性植物病原菌のゲノム進化に関する研究
Overview of your research

植物病原菌や植物共生菌は環境中の物理・化学的要因や宿主などの生物的要因を認知し,その刺激を細胞内で伝達し,特定の遺伝子を発現させて,適応することによって生きています.その機構を明らかにし,人為的にコントロールすることで有害な植物病原菌あるいは有用な植物共生菌を制御しようと研究を展開しています. 植物病原菌のゲノム配列を近縁種の菌類間で比較すると,遺伝子群の重複や獲得が認められます.これらの遺伝子群の破壊株を作出することにより,病原菌の生態における役割を明らかにしようとしています.
