微生物の多様性と時空間分布の意味を進化学と生態学の視点で理解することを目的としています。主に巨大ウイルスの進化、海洋微生物の機能と環境との相互作用を中心に研究をしています。

My principal research interest is to understand the diversity and spatio-temporal distributions of viruses and microbes in the light of their evolution and ecology. I am currently focusing on the evolution and ecology of giant viruses and their hosts.
