細胞分子の構造機能を研究している。細胞内の脂質、タンパク質の構造機能を中心に、インフルエンザウイルスの感染機構、細胞内小胞輸送、コレステロール等の脂質可視化プローブの合成開発、コレステロールやホスファチジルイノシトールによる細胞分化の制御などの研究成果を上げた。現在は、脂質、特に細胞内タンパク質高次構造の制御におけるリン脂質と脂肪酸を中心とした両親媒性の役割に関心がある。

Overview of the research
(Japanese)
脂肪酸などの両親媒性分子の細胞内可溶性タンパク質構造機能制御を研究している。特に、がん細胞における受容体チロシンキナーゼ信号に対する作用や血管内皮由来細胞におけるタンパク質の制御を構造情報等をもとに研究している。また、脂肪酸が低温適応に用いられる分子機構との関連性にも関心を持っている。

Cell biological functions of natural amphiphiles are studied. Particular interest is their impacts on the basic receptor tyrosine kinase-based signaling in cancer cells and in endothelial cells. The findings are compared to the protein functional regulation utilizing these fatty acids in lower organisms.
