2020年7月1日時点   2007年から網膜視細胞の研究を行っている。大学院では生化学、ポスドク留学時は電気生理学、京都大学で助教着任後はライブイメージング法を学んでいる。量・場所・時間を簡単に精密に制御できる光刺激法を始め、様々な手法で多角的に学べる視細胞は古くから生物物理学・生化学研究の優秀なモデル系であり、かつ、今なお新しい発見が尽きない研究対象でもあります。

July 2020_______I have been working on retinal photoreceptor cell study since 2007. I learned biochemistry in the PhD course, electrophysiology in the postdoc training, and live imaging in Kyoto University as an assistant professor. With many possible approaches including photostimulation which can be easily controlled in amount, space, and time, photoreceptor cells have been an attractive model system for biophysical and biochemical studies for long years, which still provides novel biological findings constantly.

July 2020_______Kinase activity measurements in the mouse retina using two-photon live imaging

2020年7月1日時点    特に網膜視細胞で起こる現象に注目している。二光子顕微鏡を用いた視細胞内のキナーゼ活性測定は前例がないため、新規現象の発見、および既知の現象のより正確・精密な可視化が期待できる。新規現象が発見された場合、その生理学的意義を確認するために生化学的、電気生理学的な測定を行い、現象の多角的な理解を進める。視細胞は光応答の仕組みを内在し、外部光環境に適応するために様々な調節機構を持つ。加えて、視細胞は生体内で最も代謝が活発な細胞の一つと知られる。したがって、特殊な光依存的調節機構や独特の代謝調節機構が見つかるのではないかと期待している。

July 2020_______The primary focus of my study is biological phenomena in retinal photoreceptor cells. Two-photon microscopy has not been applied for the kinase activity measurements in the retina. Therefore, I expect to see unknown phenomena and to visualize known phenomena with more precision and accuracy. After finding novel phenomena, biochemical and electrophysiological analyses will be conducted to figure out its physiological relevance. Photoreceptor cells possess various light-modulation mechanisms which enable robust and timely adaptation to the external light environment. In addition, photoreceptor cells are one of the most metabolically active cell types in the body. Therefore, I expect to find photoreceptor-specific photomodulation and metabolic-modulation mechanisms.
